Where is Jamaica Located?

Where is Jamaica located? The island country is located in the Caribbean Sea. It lies about ninety miles south of Cuba, on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The island’s total area is 10,990 square kilometers (about six hundred and twenty-four miles), making it slightly smaller than the state of Connecticut. Its capital city, Kingston, is located on the southeast coast. Despite its small size, Jamaica has a very diverse landscape. The country’s mountains include the Blue Mountain Peak, which stands at 2,256 metres (7,402 ft) high, one of the highest peaks in the Caribbean.

The islands are generally 1,000 feet above sea level, although professionals have been unable to measure their mean height. The tallest peak, Blue Mountain Peak, is located between the islands of Saint Thomas and Portland, and it rises to seven thousand feet. The rest of the island lies at sea level, with the surrounding bodies of water rising to around ten thousand feet. The islands of the Caribbean are divided into four regions, but most are mountainous.

The Caribbean Sea consists of seven countries. Jamaica is the third largest in the chain, after Cuba and Hispaniola. Other countries nearby include Cuba, Haiti, and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The country’s largest cities include Kingston, Spanish Town, Montego Bay, and Portmore. Almost half of the population lives in Kingston, while the rest of the island is spread across seven islands. The Caribbean Sea is one of the most picturesque places in the world, and you will find many fascinating sites there.
