There are many benefits to seeing what is hidden from your vision. But how do you know if you’re actually seeing it? Keep reading to find out! Here’s a hint: you’ll find the answer when you least expect it.
When you rotate an image in your head, you will notice an opposition effect. Your shadow will be brighter around your head on coarse ground. The photo below shows the opposition effect on volcanic gravel. The brightness around my shadow was 10 degrees, which is the same size as the gegenschein in the night sky. You might not be able to see the effect if you close your eyes, but you can try closing them for a few seconds while flipping the image.
